Amber Heard (of Drive Angry 3D) and Shiloh Fernandez (of Red Riding Hood) have signed on for Aram Rappaport’s Syrup, Variety reports. The dark dramedy will be adapted from Australian author Max Barry’s satirical novel about backstabbing twentysomethings who will do whatever it takes to climb the ranks of the soda industry. The book seemed ripe for Hollywood exploitation. Barry didn’t shy away from including celebrity cameos in his story, with entrepreneur character Scat bumping into the likes of Tom Cruise and Gwyneth Paltrow on his rise to the top. Now we’ll see if Syrup can score a casting coup and lure the A-listers from Barry’s page to Rappaport’s screen.

Production on the film, which Barry will co-write, begins this summer in New York. We can already confirm that the film’s sexier than it was two days ago. Heard brings that kind of heat to virtually every project she has participated in, from The Joneses and Spin to The Informers which required the actress to wear very few items of clothing for the duration of the shoot. While nothing has been confirmed, it’s likely Heard will play the character of Six in Syrup. She’s described as “a beautiful and intelligent executive at Coca-Cola and alleged lesbian that Scat falls in love with.” Sounds perfect for Heard.
