Amber as the new Red Sonja ?

September 7th, 2011     11:25 am

Here is an article about the project of Red Sonja, that was previously started by Robert Rodriguez, with as Red Sonja, but now it’s possible that Amber will be the new Red Sonja, directed by Simon West (Lara Croft: Tomb Raider).

A few years ago, a reboot/remake/relaunch of Red Sonja was in the works with Rose McGowan attached to star and Robert Rodriguez producing. While that adaptation fell apart, producer Avi Lerner still plans to bring the buxom red-headed barbarian back to the big screen. Lerner tells Empire that they’re planning to shoot Red Sonja after Conan and that Simon West (The Mechanic) will direct:

We didn’t want to start it until we’d finished Conan,” he tells us, but with confidence in Marcus Nispel’s revivified warrior growing, and a sequel already in development, Lerner reveals that “We will definitely shoot Red Sonja in between Conan and Conan 2. We already chose the director: an English guy called Simon West.”

And who does Lerner see as his new Sonja? Rising star Amber Heard. Hit the jump for more on Lerner’s dream casting.

Lerner says West plans to direct Sonja after he wraps on The Medallion starring Nicolas Cage. And as for who he wants as Sonja, it’s Cage’s Drive Angry co-star, Amber Heard:

We’re talking to a few girls for the role of Sonja,” he says, “but we just finished a movie called Drive Angry with Amber Heard, and I want to see her. She’s my favourite for the role.”

Mandy Lane as a sword-wielding, free-running warrioress? Oh hells yes. “Amber is the new Red Sonja… but she doesn’t know it yet!” laughs the producer. “When you write it she’ll get the shock of her life! She’ll call me and say ‘How dare you talk to Empire before you talk to me?!’”

Coming out fuss shocked Amber Heard

August 19th, 2011     10:39 am

You can read below a little article about Amber and the fact that she’s make her “coming out” last december.

Actress Amber Heard can’t understand why her “coming out” as a lesbian was such a big deal – because she has never hidden the fact she’s gay.

The “Pineapple Express” star went public with her romance with photographer Tasya Van Ree at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation 25th anniversary gala in Los Angeles in December and the big announcement made big news.

But Heard insists she didn’t expect to hit the headlines by showing off her girlfriend of two years.
She tells Playboy magazine, “To say I ‘came out’ implies that I was once ‘in’… I never ‘came out’ from anywhere.

I’ve always lived my life the way I’ve wanted and have been honest with myself and everyone around me.
I don’t think the producers and directors I’ve worked with care one way or another (if I’m gay). The only frustrating part has been all the media attention. For someone like me who prefers to keep her life as private as possible, if has been disconcerting to have to define so much about myself.”

And, although Heard is actively fighting for the rights of gay people to wed in California, she has no plans to rush down the aisle: “It’s an important issue and I’m fighting for the right to get married. For other people.”

‘The Rum Diary’ in Theaters

April 3rd, 2011     12:05 pm

Here is an article from blogs.indiewire.com, who talk about The Rum Diary, where Amber plays with Johnny Depp. We have no news from this movies since many times, after few stills released in 2010, so it’s a great news here, that maybe the movies will release on October 28, 2011.

It has been a long, long wait for Johnny Depp‘sThe Rum Diary.” Directed by Bruce Robinson, the film was shot in the spring of 2009 and there’s been little word on it since despite its rather fetching cast of Depp, Aaron Eckhart, Amber Heard, Giovanni Ribisi and Richard Jenkins. Last fall, Graham King acquired the film for his distribution company DistrictFilms that he founded with Sony vet Peter Schlessel and former Apparition chief Bob Berney. A fall 2011 release was announced but little in the way of anything concrete has been spoken of.

Well, a number of sites are currently attending CinemaCon, an industry confab and apparently at the launch party last night a still from “The Rum Diary” flashed on a screen with the date October 28, 2011. Being an industry conference, with many studios pimping their wares to theater owners, we wouldn’t be surprised if potential dates are being tossed around, but don’t consider it 100% locked just yet.

Based on the novel by Hunter S. Thompson, Depp plays Paul Kemp (reprising his role somewhat as the Thompson stand-in from “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”), a freelance journalist who finds himself drawn to the Caribbean at a critical turning point in his life. Self reflection and destruction ensue. Robinson recently revealed that working on the film made him turn to drinking again. So yeah, it sounds great but we hope it’s worth the long wait.

The Rum Diary” was rumored for Cannes last year—obviously that never happened—and there are some rumors floating it will make it to the Croisette this year. Depp has also talked about taking the film on a tour of colleges though that seems more like a wish than anything concrete. Either way, we just hope it finally makes it into theaters in 2011 after such a long wait. If it does open on October 28th, it will likely be in a limited platform style release, but the only competition that weekend so far is Andrew Niccol‘sNow” (with Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried) and the low-budget horror “Dibbuk Box.”

Playboy (Tv Serie)

March 26th, 2011     5:30 pm

Many rumors from this moments tell that Amber will plays in a new NBC pilot : Playboy. And she have already start to film it!! I’ve added one pictures of her behind the scene of the movies, and she’s really beautiful on this. You can also read an article below who Amber tell about this movies.

Amber Heard has revealed that she is excited by the potential of her new NBC pilot Playboy. The Drive Angry star will play a young woman with a dark past who is hired to work at a Playboy club.

I’m excited about it,” she told IGN. “Like any good piece of work, the challenge is also going to be what makes it so great. It’s a crime drama centred around the 1960s Playboy clubs of Chicago, so there’s a lot going on.
Heard also confirmed that the pilot, which recently began filming, will explore themes of social change in ’60s America.
It’s early ’60s, but it’s on the eve of women’s lib,” she explained. “It’s on the eve of this rights revolution [and] the sexual revolution. There’s so much to be told [and] the texture is so rich.”

She continued: “I anticipate that [depth] being what makes the show so good, but it’s also going to be the most difficult part of it, tying in all those elements.
Eddie Cibrian, Laura Benanti and David Krumholtz will also star in Playboy.
